Climate Change Commission 2018 Accomplishment Report

This report provides a comprehensive view of the accomplishments of the Climate Change Commission ( in 2018. This year was an important time for climate action in the Philippines as it was the time when the country reemphasized its commitment to strengthen climate mitigation and adaptation strategies to fulfill the commitment under the Paris Agreement which will take in full effect in 2020. Published in 2018.

Climate Action 2018 Report

This report provides a comprehensive view of the country's climate action since its earliest form in the 1990s. This is the first report of its kind to be generated that discussed the history of climate action in the Philippines. Content focused largely on high level national action and policies implemented for climate mitigation and adaptation measures. Report was disseminated in the COP 24 at Katowice, Poland. Published in 2018.

From Evidence to Policy: Celebrating 40 Years of Policy Research

The book provided a historical glimpse into the leaders and thinkers of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies and how they proceeded to pass the torch ultimately reaching international recognition for policy research. Published in 2018.

Unintended Consequences: The Folly of Uncritical Thinking

The typical readers of PIDS publications are government officials or personnel, academe, or development partners. This book is a bold attempt of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies to produce a publication that would appeal to a wider audience the general public. This book takes a more engaging tone and tackles controversial topics like sex education, the minimum wage, conditional cash transfer, unemployment, truck ban and traffic, housing and rental prices, among other topics.  Published in 2017.

Anthropological and Socioeconomic Characterization of Selected Indigenous Farming Communities in the Bicol Region

A four-volume visual compendium featuring indigenous farming communities in the Philippines. Published as a part of a multidisciplinary research conducted over a period of 2012-2015. This research is funded by the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office V that was implemented by the Philippine Rice Research Institute Los Baños. Published in 2015.

Where Peasants Are Kings: Food Sovereignty in the Tagbanua Traditional Subsistence System

Food sovereignty is predicated upon the rights of communities to determine culturally meaningful methods of agricultural cultivation in order to ensure the security of their diets and their lifeworld. The article provides an ethnographic study of two Tagbanua indigenous communities in the province of Palawan, Philippines, and analyzes the relation between swidden agriculture and food sovereignty.
